In 2017 I began research into the relationship between scale and the relative size of things in the universe, resulting in a series of work that explores the concept of an image generating many different scale interpretations depending on its presentation, and prompting a deeper consideration into exactly what it is.

Relative Size Series is a series of photographs that I have taken during a process in which I combine different measures of ink with a number of liquids and then record the relationship as they mix and repel from each other. The result of these reactions are images which could be interpreted as something vast- outer space, or something very internal. It occurred to me during my research that if one was to zoom out of an object as far as possible, and looked at that object from 100 million light years away, it would look almost identical to if one zoomed in as far as possible, into the center of a carbon proton. 

I created these images with this thought in mind. They could be of something microscopic, but they could also be an enormous distance away.
